We headed to Gatcombe on the Friday with the two 5YOs for the BYEH and KEC Delicate Girl (Delphi) starting her campaign in the National Novice Final, with her dressage phase.
Our homebred Meridianway Victory had a brilliant day, finishing in 3rd place, out of a strong field of 80, and a qualifying for the final at Burghley. MBF Jackpot finished close behind in 5th -just pipped for the final qualifying spot by the last but one horse. I felt very lucky to ride such lovely young horses and pleased they are getting the results they deserve.
Delphi produced a really solid test and I was really chuffed with how her flatwork has progressed. We then returned on Saturday in the most horrendous weather. The mare battled through the elements in the showjumping for just two unlucky rails on ground that wouldn’t suit her. Sadly the event was then left with no option but to abandon, the great British weather did not play ball!
