About Ruth

Ruth Honey

Having grown up as a pony mad townie Ruth has been involved with horses in some way all her life.

Her interest was encouraged by her aunt who lived in Northern Ireland, hunted and bred a few horses, one of which Ruth got to show at Dublin in her teens. She went on to event up to intermediate level but always as a hobby alongside a legal career (a qualified lawyer and holding anMBA she was head of legal for a large multinational FTSE 100 company).
However she was lucky enough to receive some classical grounding from  Edy Goldman in her younger days and had some great  training during her spells in the US including from Anne Kursinsky, Mark Phillips and Jimmy  Wofford.

Spells abroad for her husband's career and bringing up 3 children meant that it was only once Kate started to pursue a serious career with horses that Ruth developed her interest in the breeding side of eventing.

Ruth is in charge of the breeding side of the Meridian operation including stallion and brood mare selection and the development and grading of young stock.

She is also involved in the day to day running of the yard - and still does her stints as groom, driver and chief bottle washer!! And is occasionally seen rather white faced up the gallops or more frequently and comfortably at the end of a lunge line or set of long reins..
