I am a dedicated event rider based at my family yard in Lambourn, West Berkshire. I have been around horses since I could walk. My mother rode and evented when I was younger until she was demoted to being chauffeur and groom. I spent my younger years in Yorkshire doing all the pony club activities and showing working hunter ponies, which I qualified for the Ponies UK championships.
When I was 11 we moved to New Jersey in America which was a unique experience and a new perspective on life. It was a huge change but I learnt a lot from it. While we were in the US I show jumped more than I evented as it was easier to get to venues for show jumping.
In the US I went to the National Pony Club Championship several times and was well placed in New Jersey State Junior Leagues with a couple of horses in the last year we were there. I was also lucky enough to train with some legendery US names including:n Anne Kursinsky and George Morris. We moved back to England in 2000. I finished my school by doing the International Baccalaureate at an International School near Windsor. Following that I did a BSc in Equine Science at Moreton Morell. Since finishing that in 2006 I have been working with horses full time.
Doing the horses full time has been very rewarding but has times of great frustration and involves a lot of hard work. Having set up the yard in Lambourn in 2006, we have a number of horses’ eventing at all different levels up to 4*, including some rides for outside owners. My mother runs a breeding programme for eventers and I help with the handling and production of young stock. We also have a few liveries, take in horses for schooling and help with the jump schooling of National hunt horses.
